Skip bins are sold by volume in cubic metres (m³). One cubic metre is a box 1 m wide, 1 m long and 1 m high. Providers in the Rockingham area commonly offer bins from 2 m³ up to 10 m³ or more, though the exact range differs between companies.
2 m³ and 3 m³ (mini skips)
Good for a garden tidy, a garage or shed clear-out, or stripping out a small bathroom. They're short, so they're easy to load by hand, and they fit on most driveways.
4 m³
A popular size for a full bathroom renovation, a bigger yard clean-up or a small house clear-out.
6 m³
Suits a kitchen renovation, clearing out a whole house before a move, or a large garden overhaul.
8 m³ and 10 m³
For larger renovations, removing decking or a shed, and builders' waste. These are often walk-in bins with a door at one end, which makes loading furniture and heavy items easier.
Heavy waste has weight limits
Soil, sand, rubble, bricks and concrete are much heavier than household rubbish. Providers usually limit the size of bin you can fill with heavy waste, or set a maximum weight. If you're getting rid of heavy material, say so when you ask for a quote.
